IMSA

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship presents two types of cars: the Prototype model, which showcases the latest automotive technology and is designed exclusively for racing circuits, and the Grand Touring, which is based on road production models. These two car styles make up the four classes of the series: Daytona Prototype International (DPi), Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2), GT Le Mans (GTLM) and GT Daytona (GTD).

To help fans follow the action on the track, the WeatherTech championship uses a Leader Light system. It allows fans to easily identify the position of each car in their class. The position of the car is displayed on an LED panel mounted on the side of the car and the colour of the number of LEDs corresponds to the class. For example, a red LED illuminated with the number 5 on a GTLM type car means that the car is in V position in that class.
